Readers have asked, where do the ideas for your TechTIPs come from?  Something we have done, and thought others would find helpful, usually from a recent project.  Frequently during the prior week, and this is no exception.

Last week we had downloaded five years of monthly stock prices for a client that wanted some analysis of the data.  The data came as a very long row, but we wanted to present the data in a column for the format of our report.  Here's how to convert a row to a column, and vice versa.

Copy the desired row, or column, and select a cell where you want the results to begin.  Then, Paste Special, and when the Paste Special window opens select Transpose.

Another attribute in Paste Special is Values.  This is a great way to convert answers obtained by formulas, into just Values for further operation.
