Dear Executive,
*   Product Review: StuffIt and CuteFTP   *

My idea's for each issue usually come from my activities since the previous issue and over the last two weeks I've been using a couple of programs quite frequently - StuffIt and CuteFTP.  If you need to ZIP/UNZIP programs, or an FTP Client, these are two programs I can highly recommend.

CuteFTP (http://www.globalscape.com/cutehtmlpro/)

I was at the local Micro Center Computer Store over the weekend and saw this program on the shelf, and it again reminded me of how useful it has been for me.  If you have a website, this is an outstanding way to easily upload your files to the server.  Of course, it's a full-function FTP Client, and if you don't know UNIX and CHMOD, not to worry.  Setting file and directory attributes couldn't be easier.  There's a whole lot more it can do, so if you're interested check-out their website.

StuffIt (http://www.stuffit.com/win/index.html)

Another program that does a lot more than I will bother to explain here, but you could consider it the Swiss Army knife for compressing and uncompressing files.  If you need to send someone a compressed file and aren't sure if they have a utility to uncompress it when they receive it, you can make and send an *.EXE file.  This is a self-extracting file that doesn't require the recipient to have an uncompress utility.  I used it when sending a compressed file of Christmas pictures to my Mom and all she has to do is double-click on the file - paid for itself in that one application.

Next issue I'm planning to ask your feedback in selecting the TechTIP eNewsletters that you found most useful in 2006.  That will help me make the TechTIP eNewsletter content more closely inline with your interests in 2007.
