First I want to thank everyone who took the time to complete the 2006 Ranking Form of TechTIP articles. The results were helpful and I learned that 67% of the readers find the TechTIP articles are of Medium value, 20% find them of High value and 13% find them of Low value. From the ranking of each article, I learned that most readers favor the 60-second 'how-to' vs more lengthy technical topics.  We'll try to slant future articles more in that direction.  To see readers opinion chart and rank of all the 2006 TechTIP's, from High to Low, click here.

If you haven't used the cropping tool before, you should find this useful.  Frequently we encounter graphics that are surrounded on one or more side with large empty space.  See the PowerPoint Example 1, below.

The logo has empty space to the right we wish to remove.  If you don't already have the Picture toolbar visible, click View/Toolbars and check Picture.  For the Picture toolbar to be active you have to select an image.  After selecting the image, click on the Cropping tool.  The image is now surrounded with the cropping outline, as shown below in Example 2.

Move your mouse toward the vertical line on the right side of the graphic, and the cursor symbol will turn into a sideways "T".  Push on that side to the left; the result would look like Example 3, shown below.

As the title indicates, the Picture toolbar works the same way and is available in Word too.
