Dear Executive,

* PowerPoint: Animating Charts *

This can be an 'eye-catching' addition to your PPT, and might keep the people in the back row from falling asleep.  In addition to slide transitions, custom animations can help your presentation have a sense of movement and energy.

An animated chart draws the audience attention (if not overused) and adds a little spice to the usual static chart graphic.  It is easier to create the chart within PowerPoint, and if you are used to pasting (or linking) graphics from Excel, you will notice that the chart created within PowerPoint has noticeably improved resolution of the graphics and text.

I'll assume you have already created a bar chart within PowerPoint, from the menu choose SlideShow/Custom Animation and the Custom Animation Panel will open.  Your chart will be viewable on the left, click on it and you will probably find your bars grouped as a single object.  That's fine, back in the Custom Animation Panel select Add Effect/Entrance/Wipe.  Your chart should now have all the bars wipe simultaneously from the bottom - the effect is that the bars are growing.  You can control the speed of the wipe, when the animation occurs (mouse click, etc.) and many more parameters, now that you have seen the basic's.

If you have a recent version of Internet Explorer, you can see a demo of animated charts, by following this link --> animated chart
