If you communicate with documents, presentations, or email there are opportunities to differentiate your content by applying Diacriticals, symbols, or foreign characters.

The difference between resume, and résumé are substantial, and depend on applying the appropriate accent marks.  Diacriticals are accent marks which are common in other languages; Spanish, French, Germans, Italian, and Portuguese - to name a few.  Some examples of words with these Diacriticals are: façade, déjà vu, São Palo, and hôtel; cedilla, acute, grave, tilde, and circumflex respectively.

Word, PowerPoint and Excel provide access to the Symbols and Special Characters from the Menu Bar via Insert/Symbol.  (Outlook can too, if configured to use Word as the editor.)  If your responsibility includes international business, it might be appropriate to format revenue using the (£) Pound, (¥) Yen, or (€) Euro character.  Many Greek characters are common in technology documents, and they can be found here too: (μ) mu, (Ω) Omega, and (λ) lambda.  Symbols like the degree (°), plus or minus (±), greater than or equal to (≥), can all be accessed in this way.
